John Safran, Barry Southgate and other miscellanea

Last night was the final episode of a comedic documentary series called John Safran vs God on SBS. Boy was it interesting! In each prior episode John goes around and samples some weird cults/religions and the results are pretty funny. In this last episode though, he goes to an American preacher dude for an exorcism (someone who has a deliverance ministry I s'pose we'd say in less secular terms).

Anyway, the consequences were astonishing. I was expecting him to be all funny about it as usual, but it wasn't. It was full on. The preacher was praying for him and you could see there was something going on- he ended up struggling and screaming, and needing to be held back, while the preacher was casting out demons in Jesus' name. Even the production crew were saying how they'd never seen anything like it. After watching that...gee, you can't deny that the Spiritual realm is real and that there is power in the name of Jesus. I'm so thankful that my God is alive!

In other news, I had a brush with not-quite-fame today! I was in Dirt Cheap CD's after work looking for The Diary of Alicia Keys (which I got for $10 incidentally! Admittedly it's not the double CD version in the stores currently, but HEY, it was less than half the price!). Anyway I was about to reach for it on the rack, when someone else reached at the very same time and beat me to it...and who should it be but Barry Southgate from Australian Idol! Of course, I didn't say anything for fear of embarrasing the both of us, but it was still cool! Who cares that his 15 minutes of fame expired a few months ago!? He's hot!! Hahaahahahhaahhaa.

Ergh, there's a staff meeting at work next week and I have the option of attending on Monday or Tuesday...I SO DON'T WANT TO GO, even if they pay me $13 odd bucks to do so! =p.
