Grrrrr.
Had a nice piece of blog all ready to go, but I think my Aunt closed the window on it, so now it's lost to oblivion. Grrr. Other people using your computer can be such an invasion of privacy- not because there's anything particularly personal by way of documents or whatever- but just because there's a certain way you use it, certain things you do...hmmm. I think I'm spoiled by the luxury of having this PC basically to myself!
I was watching Dawson's the other day (which, incidentally, screens at 2 p.m. here now...that really says it all doesn't it?), and it was the episode where Dawson has just had a one night stand with this actress from his work, so the morning after, she says to Dawson "O, ummm...I'll try to call you...I have these auditions coming up...I'm really busy...." and Dawson replies "Don't worry, I know that this is just about sex- I've learned not to take these things too seriously."
Pleh.
Why is that a good lesson to learn?? And WHO is trying to get us to learn similar lessons- that sex is not big deal, and that there is no emotional connection involved whatsoever?? I'm not buying it. As far as I'm concerned that is a lie. I don't know why society is perpertrating such myths about sex and relationships- clearly modern society's take on sex and relationships isn't working. From what I've seen/heard, out initial instinct is that sex is a very personal and intimate thing which creates some kind of deep emotional bond. Why are we trying to unpick this instinct?? So we can sleep around more? Get more action? Try before we buy? Have more fun? It's just another one of these societal things- much like the alcohol thing (less widespread though, I presume). But from the amount of broken relationships (and people) out there...there has to be a better way. Do people realise that? Makes me wonder.
For some reason I get really passionate about how society treats sex and sexuality and relationships (you can see that from various tirades here!)- I don't know why, but it does get to me. Hrm.
