Couplespeak
(OMG, updating twice in a day, boredem is growing!! I'm so over my assignment! And still have one topic to go! Somehow I have no urgency about this at all, even though it's due tomorrow....hum.)
Due to my severely depleating stash of things to read on the internet when bored (I've been churning through the resources a bit too fast these days), I was very glad today to rediscover a friend's blog that I used to lurke on. (Yes, I said lurke. Even though I hate lurkers myself. I just don't know how to broach the subject, especially since her blog was clearly not aimed at her church friends. Hum.) From there, I also then linked onto her and her boyfriend's blog, and discovered that couplespeak (i.e. the language employed by a couple to each other) is really tremendously weird to any party outside the couple! I'm not talking about the usual "honey, baby, babe" type term of endearment. I'm talking about people using words of their very own language!
My bf and I inevitably also engage in couplespeak. It happens, I guess, because you're around each other so much that you develop the same frames of reference, and terminology arises out of it. Also, the fact that you're not afraid to be silly doofuses around each other makes a relationship very fertile ground for the creation of new words!
Anyway, it was just funny to see their couplespeak in cyber space. It would have been 10x weirder to see it live! (I've had it happen before with another couple. It was strange!)
Hehehhe....soooooooooTTTT! That was for you, pops. Heheheheheheee.
Ok, back to work.

bf: Jen says that because we have our own injokes and terminology that we are now officially a couple. Sorry!
hehehehehe
To Em's bf:
Don't worry too much.
I may learn the art of sharing some day.
