Unqualified strong negative sentiment towards others

(Argh, my arms are soooo about to fall off. I went for my daily jog with weights today....my biceps are NOT used to working that hard!)

I get really taken aback when people express unqualied strong negative sentiment towards others (USNSTO). I think I've become accustomed to polite society. I mean, back in school (years before year 11 I reckon) I'm sure there were people who hated my guts from time to time, and moreover, who said so. (Jo famously said that she wanted to "pour acid down [her] eyes" in year...8? I think I insulted her hair. I can't really remember...hehehehheehe.) It was just a fact of life that toes were gonna get stepped on and people were going to react in a negative, gut-hating sort of way.

But now, when someone expresses USNSTO, or even me, I get really shocked! I just haven't been exposed to it for so long now...I like to remain inter-personal-altercation free if at all possible...I'm just a non-confrontational sorta gal. Today, I was doing a bit of group work with some people and one girl who briefly joined our group left all of a sudden to join another one, and one of the guys (yes, a guy!) looked shocked and then went "What a BITCH!"....which I thought was totally harsh and uncalled for. Then another time I got really shocked at a friend who was being just a tad too snappy and abrasive with too little reason...and then the time before that was at that incident a few weeks back when I got a very harsh email from someone which ended in 'have a nice life' (and you thought they only said that in the movies! Well so did I!!).

Anyway, I'd like to believe that I and those I associate with are generally mature enough to resolve grievances without resorting to USNSTO.

It's shocking people, absolutely shocking!
