My Pensieve

These thoughts have been swirling around in my head so I thought I'd get out my ol' magic wand (read: fingers) and extract (read: type out) those thoughts into my pensieve (read: my blog). Apologies to the non-Potter readers.

Psychoanalysis of Bec and Lleyton
Just read today they are engaged. Why? They are both pretty darn young and haven't been going out that long (publicists in tacit acknowledgement of this keep emphasising that they met each other 'five years ago' and had a 'close connection', obviously overlooking the fact that it doesn't look very good for Lleyton to be cast in the role of fiance with a roving eye- o well). Anyway, my psychoanalysis goes like this: they both came off fairly high profile long term relationships where there was some form of engagement expressed (I think Bec was engaged to Beau Brady- I remember there was a hoo-haa about them being engaged so young...can anyone confirm?- and Lleyton was engaged to Clijsters. So in my view, they're just both looking for the security and permanance that their previous relationships offered. I'm not sure it will last, though all the best to them.

Walking on, walking on, broken gla-a-a-ss
I don't like it, especially when it's around people you're supposed to be good friends with. I mean, there's a place for being sensitive and accomodating to your friend's personal preferences of course, but when that starts interfering with the quality of the friendship itself, it's time to face the issue.

Walk On
Has Hillsong done a cover of U2's Walk On? Hehehehe...not that it's very bad or anything...I just find it funny...ok, I don't know why. It's a half formed thought, that's why it's here, ok!?!

Weighty issues
My family has become SUPER CONSCIOUS about weight. Actually, it's just mum and dad, who have sucked me into the vortex of weight consciousness. Can I just repeat here that I don't need anyone watching my weight for me! If I want to embark on a weight loss programme, whatever that might entail, I'll do it off my own bat, thankyou very much!

And I don't think I'm fat anyway.
But I would like to lose those 2.5kgs that I put on over the last 2 months.
Hmph.

Historical figurines
On the "Em's favourite historical queen" front, Mary, Queen of Scots has been dethroned (ha ha) by Eleanor of Aquitaine. This is the result of reading Sharon Penman's Time and Chance and Pamela Kaufman's The Book of Eleanor while I was away. I should have done Arts- whoever heard of a finance student with favourite English historical queens!? O well.

Saxy!
I need to play it.
