What's done is done...

Ended up applying for 12 firms for summer clerkships. Dunno if I like my chances.

I was whinging about having to do the applications to my mum...something along the lines of "I don't even wanna work at these big fat law firms!! Don't wanna bother applying!!" To which she responded "Well do you know for sure God doesn't want you to work there?" (no) "Well then you should apply just in case He wants to open up a door there!".

Ergh.

I'm kind of thinking it wouldn't be a bad thing to do a clerkship- just to confirm or deny my views on big commercial law firms (actually, a funny aside: some of the bigger firms had the question "why are you attracted to commercial law?" I was about to answer the question until I paused and realised I didn't know exactly what commercial law was...!!). To get some experience. To grow up a bit.

On the other hand, I'm totally freaked out by this whole concept of "having drinks with partners"- I have a feeling that firms pride themselves on this point because it shows that (a) they are generous with their drinks (!) and (b) that their partners are accessible. I don't know how I'd feel in an actual working situation but I like to have the big bosses far far far away so you can get on with your job without being freaked out that they are behind you about to give you the sack! PLUS, partners are like...my parents' age! Can you imagine having social drinks with people your parents' age!!?!?! Or with your parents' friends!?!??!! That does NOT sounds like fun to me! =p

Anywayz, like my heading, what's done is done. Water off a duck's back! Life goes on! =)
