Small Mercies

Are you shocked?...I didn't update yesterday!

Had a semi icky day yesterday. Well a rather icky lunch time. Firstly, it was Litigation department Christmas Lunch, which I didn't know about til one of the lawyers rapped on my window and made eating motions, pointing upstairs (kind of explained why the whole office was empty!) Then when I got there, it was a buffet stand around and mingle type thing, where I spent most of my time there walking around looking like I was going somewhere, without actually going anywhere. I finally got fed up and left, 3 bits of sushi and 15 minutes later.

However the day was redeemed by the following small mercies:

1. During my brief 15 minutes at the lunch, one of the lawyers who is an ex-pat from Sydney saw me standing by myself and had a 3-5 minute chat with me at the punch table. So did one of the friendlier, not to silent lawyers from my department.
2. Our good friend (who I won't be seeing again since he's on leave til after I leave) silent dude stopped by my office and asked if I wanted to tag along with him to court if I had nothing to do- I was touched that he remembered I was sitting quietly in the office next to him, not having bugged him for work that day!
3. The friendly lawyer from my department who chatted to me at the lunch stopped by my office to chat! Not to tell me to do something! Wow!
