It's not me, it's them
Yep, I've concluded that the widespread unfriendliness of those surrounding me at work has everything to do with systemic Asian unfriendliness and nothing to do with me.
People here are just not very friendly at all. I tender my evidence as follows:
- I was thinking last night that since I've been working here, not a single person has asked me what I do outside study/work. And while it's not like I want them to ask, or want them to care, I was always under the impression that when you met someone, those are the sorts of things you asked them, interested or not.
- When I walk into the office in the morning, not a single person says good morning. I mean, usually I get in pretty early compared to everyone else, but this morning, the pupil was here and I walked right past his workstation on the way to my desk...I didn't say anything- he didn't say anything. If I'm sitting at my desk and people walk past my office on the way to work and I see them looking in my window, do they say "good morning" when they walk past my door?? No siree, they don't! Again, it's not like I particularly care if they say good morning to me or not...but I just thought that was what people did...!!
So yeah, have concluded that this is the way people are, and that their lack of general social niceties is not an indictment on me.
Oh, I'm SO BORED. I got given this stupid task to do, which essentially has already been done and I don't get why I'm being asked to do it again (I think the dude was clutching at straws when I pestered him this morning). He asked for a breakdown of a total figure, but I'm sitting here looking at a document which is exactly that. BAH. But I don't want to go pester him again!! This is stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupiiiiiiiiiiiiid...
